Concert Band Performs at ISSMA

Congratulations to the HS Band for receiving a Gold rating for their performance in ISSMA Group III Concert Band Contest on Saturday. They also received a Gold, and a near perfect score, in sight reading. This caps off an active season where they have performed at an IMEA festival and a Side by Side Concert with the Southern Indiana Wind Ensemble. Our final concert will be May 10th in the Main Gym beginning at 6:30.

Chicago Trip Meeting


There will be a departure meeting for members going on the trip to Chicago on Monday, April 7th at 7pm in the High School Band Room. All travelers are requested to send at least one representative to the meeting to get the final details for the trip. Travelers are reminded to make their final payments for this trip. They may do so by logging on to their trip account at www.mtcsos.com, clicking on Financial Information>Invoice History>Final Payment to see their unpaid balance.

OV has a busy schedule while up in Chicago, where they will see the Museum of Science and Industry, Navy Pier, Millennium Park, the Willis Tower, and Blue Man Group, in addition to eating at Ed Debevic's and Giordano's Pizza. In addition the group will be heading to VanderCook College of Music for a clinic.

Marching Band Leadership and Guard Try Outs

The Band and Guard is currently taking Letters of Intent for Section Leaders and Drum Majors for the 2014 Marching Band Season. Letters of Intent are due on Friday, April 4th. Mr. Thompson will schedule interviews with potential candidates after school on Wednesday, April 9th and make selections by the end of the week. Information can be picked up from Mr. Thompson.

Color Guard Try Outs for the 2014 season are being held Monday, Wednesday, and Friday April 7th, 9th, and 11th from 5pm to 8pm. Potential members should meet in the HS Band room. Please see Mr. Thompson for applications for membership.

The 2013 Marching Band Season was extremely successful for OV, culminating in their performance at the inaugural ISSMA Scholastic State Finals event.
